Update to the previous post. The new Alexandra Burke Album is due for release on Monday 19th October 2009. The new album is called Overcome and features the recent Bad Boys single.

According to our sources, we’re going to have to wait a little longer before we get our hands on Alexandra Burke’s debut album.
We were hoping that it might be in the spring or even early summer, but it looks like Simon Cowell and the team are going to repeat what they did with Leona Lewis. That is, to wait until around November.
Why the delay? It looks as though they are still looking for the right songs.

According to The Sun,
“[Her label was] planning a quick release – possibly as early as March in time for Mothers’ Day,” said an insider. “But they have reconsidered and will now go for the autumn – probably November.”
“They want to wait to find the right songs and let her polish her skills, like they did with Leona. She can then launch it on a live X Factor show.”
They added: “Leon Jackson’s album failed to shift as many copies as they hoped when they waited ten months after his X Factor win before releasing it. They didn’t want to risk the same thing happening but think Alex’s talent and appeal is closer to Leona’s levels, so they can afford to wait to get it right.”

Thank God Simon is going to look after her like he did Leona – good songs = more success, I thought a March release was way to early for anything good to be on the album other than covers, we want original material like we got with Leona, will definitely be worth the wait now!
